6.4.1. Procedimiento del Trasplante Alogénico
En el procedimiento del trasplante, el paciente recibe un tratamiento de preparación con quimioterapia en dosis altas o la combinación de quimioterapia y radioterapia. A continuación se le infunden los precursores sanguíneos del donante por vía intravenosa como una transfusión.
El tratamiento de preparación para el trasplante o régimen de acondicionamiento tiene tres objetivos fundamentales:
Eliminar las células leucémicas
Dejar espacio libre en la médula para que las células del donante puedan anidar
Provocar una inmunosupresión del paciente para que su sistema inmunológico no rechace las células del donante
A pesar de que el alo-TPH es, de momento, el único tratamiento curativo de la LMC, sólo podrían beneficiarse de él un 25-30% de los pacientes, debido a la falta de un donante o por su edad.
